I had never read a book by Charles Dickens before - if you don't count the 200+ pages I've read of Our Mutual Friend.

I started writing a review to post on my blog but never finished it.

One of my reading goals is to read a book by Dickens every year. I haven't gotten around to one this year but if I do I believe it will be Bleak House. I've heard good things about it.heathcliffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12434259852277119200noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5045291184084521115.post-39908523047831301002010-07-22T06:30:15.791-07:002010-07-22T06:30:15.791-07:00I had actually put a little paragraph about readin...I had actually put a little paragraph about reading on the kindle, but it got erased and I was too tired to add it back in, ha ha.
I will never completely give up books! I also love the feeling of a book in my hands, and feel there is nothing like turning an actual page rather than clicking to go to the next page.
The kindle is not backlit, so it is not like reading on a computer screen, so it doesn't hurt your eyes or seem completely unlike a book. And, the nerd in me loved the percentage bar at the bottom of the screen that told how far in the book I was...I think that speeded my reading as I saw it fill up and "complete" the book as I went along! ha ha.
The main reason for reading this was that a few of my friends decided to read it together and my husband told me that we could get it for free on his kindle....and I could begin right away. So.... I did. For FREE books, I definitely like it. But, if I had to pay $6-$8 or more, I would rather just get the paperback!
Another neat feature was being able to see passages that other people highlighted in the book. It's a feature you can turn on or off, but it will have a sentence underlined and say "16 people highlighted this." Pretty good for studying I would say.Carriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17122729026438550593noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5045291184084521115.post-72616439486327255682010-07-22T05:28:39.568-07:002010-07-22T05:28:39.568-07:00What a "moment"...to read such a classic...What a "moment"...to read such a classic on a Kindle! I was wondering...how do you like your Kindle...I'm such a "touchy feely" person...I'm just not sure I could tear myslef away from reading a "physical" book...although I LOVE the convenience idea...I just like putting books on my shelf...so I was just curious what you thought!?!
Blessings to you sister!
CherieCherie Hillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14560483336790854099noreply@blogger.com
